Thinkpublic
Thinkpublic are an award-winning social innovation agency focused on using design to improve service experiences in the public sector. We achieve this by working with service providers and the general public to gain understanding of how their services and experiences could be improved. Our dynamic and creative company has worked with the NHS, education, Local Government and the Third Sector.
Thinkpublic’s work is now incorporated into three themes:
Active healthy living – a healthy active nation requires more than just greater numbers of hospital beds. Social and emotional support is just as important, something our current health system finds difficult to provide. thinkpublic helps health professionals and citizens create better services that focus on the real needs, resources and potential of users.
Social potential – everyone has a talent that could improve his or her community. Our social potential practice helps clients to find the 5% that they can do to unlock 95% extra in imagination, time and energy in the people they serve.
Human government – this practice helps public bodies design lean, productive, joined up services built around the needs of the user, which not only saves money but also provides a better service with lasting impact.
I love working with the thinkpublic team. I really believe in their user-centered approach and the very practical way that they bring their expertise to life and make sure what they do affords real benefit and transformation for real people.
My part-time role at thinkpublic incorporates the following:
- Embedding applied positive psychology in to thinkpublic projects, methods and tools.
- Internal strategic consultancy on opportunity spotting and development of business.
- Building organic and strategic networks for the ” thinkpublicans ” initiative, as well as for thinkpublic as a whole.
- Forging external partnerships for The Social Lab and taking it in to organisations and communities as well as across sectors.
- I do all of the evaluations of thinkpublic’s work, positioning myself as having one foot in and one foot out of the organisation to project stakeholders so that I can measure impact and evaluate objectively as well as support the projects keeping on track. I see evaluation as an ongoing action research process that enables work to be shaped and defined collaboratively and iteratively.
- On their external projects I also work as a social science researcher and experience designer, using my Positive Psychology and coaching training combined with my design background to ask questions, listen to, and capture people’s experiences and then work with them through a design process to gain insights on how to make things better and how to implement them in sustainable way.
