Spots of Time
I’m a Director of Spots of Time.
Spots of Time is a fast-growing social enterprise with a mission to make it easier for people to put their spare ‘spots of time’ to good use in their communities.
The motivation for establishing Spots of Time comes from a belief that it is often the little things in our days that make a big difference to how we feel about life. Whether its seeing a beautiful painting, hearing a long-forgotten song or reading a favourite poem, Spots of Time wants to bring these little great moments into more people’s lives by making it easier for people to share their talents and interests with other people in their communities.
Spots of Time does this by addressing some of the obstacles people face after deciding they want to give back to their community – namely, a lack of flexibility. The chances are you have looked into getting involved in your community only to discover you are expected to take part once a week, every week.
Spots of Time work with voluntary and community groups to support them to offer a range of fun, bite-sized activities. With Spots of Time you can give as much or as little time as you like. They also share tips and ideas for fun things you can do day-to-day in their blog Spotted. Whether its dropping pennies on the ground to give people good luck, creating a wish tree in your local area or writing a chalk quote on the pavement for someone else to enjoy.
At the moment they are operating in Hackney and Tower Hamlets but over the next six months hope to grow into more London boroughs.
